About this game
Block Drop is a falling-block puzzle played on a compact nine-by-eighteen board. Stone blocks in seven different shapes drop from the top one at a time. Slide and rotate each one so it lands neatly, and fill an entire row to make it shatter and disappear, opening up space. Every block is engraved with its own symbol, so shapes stay easy to tell apart even when they share a color family, and the color theme changes with each level. Scoring rewards skilled play. Clearing one, two, three or four rows with a single block earns Nice, Sweet, Super or Mega Smash, with the payout multiplied by your level, and clearing rows on back-to-back blocks builds a chain bonus. Soft drops and hard drops add a few points as well. You level up every eight rows, and the blocks fall faster each time. The game ends when the stack reaches the top, and high scores can be saved to the global leaderboard.
Controls
- Keyboard: Left and Right arrows move the block, Up or Z rotates it, Down drops it faster, and Space slams it to the bottom.
- Phone or tablet: use the on-screen buttons, or tap the board to rotate, swipe sideways to move and swipe down to drop.
- Press PLAY to start, or Restart at any time. The next block is shown in the panel beside the board.
- The panel also shows your level and how many rows you have cleared.
Tips and strategy
- Keep the stack flat. With only nine columns, bumps and holes fill up the board quickly.
- Use the NEXT preview to decide where the current block should go before you drop it.
- Leave one column open at the edge and stack the rest high. A long straight block dropped into the gap can clear four rows at once for a Mega Smash.
- Chain your clears. Back-to-back blocks that each clear a row add a chain bonus, so a steady flow often beats building one huge stack.
- Use the hard drop when you are sure of the position. It earns two points per row fallen and saves time at high levels.
- There is no landing guide, so learn to judge the drop. Check the column height under the falling block and count the rows before you press Space.
