About this game
Dream Mansion is a 3D room design game. You are handed the keys to a grand mansion with six empty rooms off a marble hall: a living room, a kitchen, a dining room, a master bedroom, a bathroom and a game room. Pick any room and make it yours. Every room has its own menus, so the living room has sofas, armchairs, coffee tables and media walls, the kitchen has cabinets, countertops, a backsplash, an island and appliances from four made-up brands, and the game room has pool tables, arcade machines and neon signs. Floors come in hardwood, herringbone, marble, tile and carpet, and walls can be painted or papered in stripes, damask, polka dots and more.
When a room looks right, press Showcase and the camera takes over: a drone shot circling above the room, a slow walk in through the door and close-ups of your best pieces. Design two or more rooms and you can take a walk-through of the whole house, in through the front door and down the hall. Nothing is timed and nothing is scored. It is a game about making something you like.
Controls
- Choose a room: click or tap a room in the cutaway view of the mansion.
- Design: pick a menu, then a style, then a colour. The green dot on a menu means that spot is filled. Choose None to remove a piece.
- Camera: drag to rotate, scroll or pinch to zoom, right-drag or two-finger drag to slide the view. Walls between you and the room hide automatically.
- Showcase: the Showcase button starts the cinematic camera. Press Back to Designing or Esc to stop.
- Extras: Surprise Me fills the room at random, Clear empties it, Photo saves a picture and the moon button switches between day and evening.
Tips and ideas
- Start with the floor and walls. They set the mood for everything else in the room.
- Pick two or three colours and repeat them: the sofa, the curtains and the rug do not all need to match, but they should get along.
- Switch to evening before you showcase. Chandeliers, lamps, fireplaces, aquariums and neon signs all glow.
- Stuck for ideas? Press Surprise Me a few times, keep the parts you like and change the rest.
- In the kitchen, the countertop you choose is used on the island too, so pick the cabinets and island colours to go with it.
- Your mansion is saved in this browser, so you can come back later and keep decorating.
