About this game
Rooftop Rush is a 3D parkour game set in a sprawling city that you cross without ever touching the street, if you're good. Sprint across rooftops, leap the alleys between buildings, run along walls, scramble up fire escapes and balance across steel beams slung high over the traffic below. Glass towers reflect the sky, windows light up as the sun goes down, and you can switch between golden sunset, bright daytime and a neon-lit night at any time. Pick one of three runners (Kai, Dex or Skye) and everyone who plays online shares the same city, so you'll see other runners flipping over rooftops around you, and four time-trial courses (from the easy Rooftop Sprint to the tower-climbing Skyline Summit) each keep a top-10 leaderboard. It runs right in the browser with no download, with full keyboard and mouse controls on desktop and on-screen controls for phones and tablets.
Controls
- Move and look: W, A, S and D to run and the mouse to look. On touch screens, use the left stick to run and drag anywhere else to look.
- Jump, climb and wall-run: Space. Jump at a wall and press Space again to climb it, or jump alongside a wall and press Space to run across it. Ledges within reach pull you up automatically.
- Slide: hold C or the right mouse button while running.
- Charge: hold Shift to fill the charge bar, then jump for a long jump or jump at a wall for a wall boost. Holding Shift as you land from a big drop rolls you out of it.
- Camera: press V to switch between third person, a body view where you see your own arms and legs, and classic first person. The mouse wheel zooms the third-person camera.
- Respawn and menus: R takes you back to your last checkpoint, Backspace restarts a course, Tab shows the leaderboards and Esc opens the menu.
Tips and strategy
- Speed is everything. A slide gives you a short burst of extra speed, and jumping the moment you land keeps it, so chain slide, jump, hop across long runs of flat roofs.
- Can't reach a taller roof? Look for a fire escape, a stairwell hut against the wall, or a glowing jump pad on the sidewalk below.
- Parapets (the low walls around roof edges) can be vaulted at full speed. Press Space as you reach one.
- Billboards and the sides of rooftop huts make great wall-running walls for crossing gaps a normal jump can't.
- Big drops are fine if you roll: hold Shift just before you land. Falling from the very top of a tower will still send you back, unless you aim for one of the blue landing cushions.
- The arrow at the top of the screen always points to your next checkpoint, or to the nearest course start while you're exploring.
